MHQP Releases Updated Clinical Quality Data for Primary Care Practices
Reinforcing its ongoing commitment to health care transparency, MHQP is pleased to once again release clinical quality performance data for primary care practices across Massachusetts. These data document practice-by-practice level results for 2023 across a wide range of clinical practices, including recommended preventative screenings, and offer patients a way to compare and contrast provider groups in their service area.
The results, which MHQP collects and aggregates from the state’s health plans for commercially insured patients, can be viewed on MHQP’s consumer-facing website, www.HealthcareCompassMA.org.
These practice-level results shed light on how well primary care providers are delivering essential services—such as cancer screenings, diabetes management, and pediatric care. Patients can explore both clinical quality and patient experience data to make more informed choices about their care.
At a time when transparency is increasingly under threat, MHQP remains steadfast in its mission to make critical health care data freely accessible to the public.
Despite continued challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing workforce shortages, Massachusetts practices again delivered strong performance. On most clinical quality measures, the Commonwealth outpaced national averages—often by significant margins. For example:

“We applaud the state’s primary care practices for all they do to keep patients healthy during these challenging times” says Barbra Rabson, MHQP’s President and CEO. “The preventive care that primary care primary care provides is essential, and we urge all practices to strive to continue to increase screening rates—and all patients to proactively seek out this essential care.”
