MHQP Welcomes Chevaunne Edwards

(July 2025)

“I feel like it was kismet.”

That’s how Chevaunne Edwards, MPH, describes her journey to becoming MHQP’s new Director of Quality Measurement and Analytics.

Chevaunne has more than a decade of experience in healthcare quality, patient experience and data analytics, and served briefly as the nation’s Program Manager for CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) – a role deeply aligned with MHQP’s mission of improving patients’ experiences of care. However, several months into her job, her position was eliminated due to cuts in the federal workforce.

“I got DOGE’d,” says Chevaunne with a sarcastic grin.

Fortunately, during her time at AHRQ, Chevaunne met with MHQP’s CEO Barbra Rabson and COO Natalya Martins, who were seeking feedback on some changes under consideration to MHQP’s Statewide Patient Experience Survey. MHQP’s survey is based on CAHPS, a measurement system developed by the agency. So, when Chevaunne came across the MHQP job posting after leaving AHRQ, she was immediately drawn in.

If I hadn’t had the AHRQ experience, I would have never heard of MHQP,” she says.

“We feel so very fortunate to have Chevaunne on our team,” says Natalya. “She has been a national leader in shaping strategy for person-centered care measurement, and we look forward to her applying her knowledge and insights to strengthen MHQP’s measurement and analytics capabilities.”

In her new role, Chevaunne will oversee MHQP’s patient experience survey programs, clinical quality measurement initiative, and guide analytic strategies that turn data into meaningful insights. She is committed to developing equitable and actionable approaches to healthcare quality measurement and patient experience improvement.

Prior to her role at AHRQ, Chevaunne held leadership roles at Johns Hopkins Health System, where she led enterprise-wide Voice of the Customer initiatives and implemented feedback platforms to inform system-level service and operational improvements.

Chevaunne received her MPH from Tufts University and a BS in Biology from Spelman College. She lives in Baltimore with her husband, a dog and two cats.
