MHQP Welcomes Lisa Gualtieri to its Board of Directors

(April 2025)

MHQP is thrilled to announce that Lisa Gualtieri, PhD, ScM, has agreed to join its Board of Directors.

Lisa is an Instructor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she teaches Digital Health. She is also Adjunct Faculty in the Master of Science in Health Systems (MSHS) at Cedars-Sinai, where she teaches a new course on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and co-directs the Capstone courses. She was recently recognized with the Distinguished Teaching Award at Cedars-Sinai.

Lisa started her professional career with a focus on technology, earning her PhD in Computer Science from Harvard University. She gravitated to healthcare as a field where she could apply her knowledge about technologies to improve patient outcomes.

“My focus is on digital health at the intersection of technology and healthcare,” she says. “I Iove it because I can come at it not just understanding technology, but understanding how technology can help support people in living healthier lives.”

In addition to her teaching roles, Lisa is a researcher. Realizing the limitations of technology adoption and use, her research is focused on developing facilitators to remove the barriers patients face.

“I’m currently developing interventions that help individuals improve medication management in the home, evaluating the needs of older adults wanting to age in place but who occasionally forget their medication, of racial and ethnic minorities, and of pregnant people,” she says.

This research has led to the design of devices that personalize sensors to remind older adults to take their medication when they forget. She collaborates on studies to improve medication adherence in Black pregnant people, work she believes aligns well with MHQP’s work on mistrust in healthcare within the Black community.

She founded RecycleHealth, a non-profit organization that collects fitness trackers and smartwatches for underserved populations, over 16,000 to date.

“I look forward to working with MHQP,” she says. “The work the organization does is so important. And am thrilled to have the opportunity to help MHQP amplify its message and reach more people.”

The feeling is mutual. We look forward to having Lisa on our team.
