Seventeen Massachusetts health care organizations--including the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Massachusetts Medical Society, Massachusetts Hospital Association and several major health plans--have come together again to endorse a set of preventive care recommendations and immunization guidelines for adults.
2007/8 marks the fourth set of collective preventive care guidelines that MHQP has issued since 2001. This is the first year that the Recommendations are being made available online in both desk-reference and printer-friendly formats. The online version also includes links to additional materials that you may find useful, such as screening tools and referral guides for clinicians, as well as informational handouts for patients.
The endorsing organizations and the Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP), the broad-based coalition that facilitated the collaboration, are seeking to improve the quality of preventive care services and immunization rates for all residents of the Commonwealth. Previously, health plans and other provider organizations each developed and distributed their own versions of the recommendations for clinicians to follow. Our goal in coming together to endorse a single set of adult preventive care recommendations is to support your efforts to provide high-quality, evidence-based care and eliminate inconsistent guidelines.
Electronic versions of the guidelines and collateral materials can be downloaded as PDF files by clicking the tabs on the left hand side of the screen.
