As the COVID-19 pandemic began to take hold, most interactions between providers and patients moved to computer screens and telephones. Many people in healthcare have long been advocating for telehealth as a way to improve access. Telehealth has tremendous potential for improving patient care, but we still have much to learn. Now that the pandemic has forced virtual care to the forefront, we have both an opportunity and a responsibility to enhance telehealth as an effective and sustainable component of care.
MHQP is uniquely positioned to help advance the future of telehealth. As a neutral coalition of stakeholder groups, MHQP can bring providers, health plans and patients together to solve challenging problems such as this that none can solve alone. While we understand many aspects of telehealth policy and implementation are complex, we are determined to do what we can to help telehealth transform care delivery and drive healthcare experience improvements for both patients and providers in Massachusetts for years to come.
