Quality Insights:
Clinical Quality in Primary Care
Healthcare quality measure: This measure looks at pediatric patients who are between 3 and 6 years old. It shows the percent of those patients who had at least one well-child visit during the past year. These well-child visits (or “check-ups”) with a doctor or other healthcare provider are to see how well your child is growing. They are not the same as visits when your child is sick.
Reasons for this measure: A young child (3 to 6 years old) grows and changes a lot. These changes include developing communication skills that help a child to learn - being able to see, hear, and talk. A well-child visit each year is a time to check these skills. If there are any problems, your child’s doctor or healthcare provider will suggest ways to improve or reduce them.
